At Lumia Overseas, we are committed to delivering quality language and exam-preparation coaching while maintaining complete transparency with our students. This Refund Policy applies to all coaching programs offered by Lumia Overseas, including IELTS, PTE, Spoken English, TOEFL, German, and Japanese courses, across both online and offline (classroom) modes.

By enrolling in any of our coaching programs, making payment in full or in part, or attending classes, you (“the Student”, or the parent/guardian where the Student is a minor) acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this Refund Policy.


1. General Principle — No-Refund Policy

All fees paid towards Lumia Overseas coaching programs are strictly non-refundable once enrollment has been confirmed and the Student’s seat has been reserved. This applies to full payments as well as any installment or partial payments received.

Enrollment is considered confirmed once any of the following occurs, whichever is earliest:

  • Payment (full or partial) is received by Lumia Overseas;
  • A seat or batch is allotted or reserved for the Student;
  • Login credentials, study materials, or class access (online or offline) are issued.

Because a confirmed enrollment reserves a limited seat that could otherwise have been offered to another student, fees cannot be refunded except as expressly stated in this Policy.


2. Free Demo Class

Lumia Overseas offers a free demo/trial class to prospective students before enrollment. There is no separate registration, admission, or demo fee charged at any point.

We strongly encourage every prospective student to attend the free demo class and clarify all questions regarding course content, schedule, mode of delivery, trainer, and fees before making any payment. Once payment is made, the no-refund terms of this Policy apply in full.


3. Commencement of Classes

No refund shall be provided once classes have commenced, irrespective of:

  • Attendance or non-attendance;
  • Voluntary discontinuation or dropout;
  • Change of plans, priorities, or career decisions;
  • Relocation, travel, or change of city;
  • Health, personal, family, financial, or professional circumstances;
  • Dissatisfaction with pace, difficulty level, or self-assessed progress.

The Student is encouraged to evaluate their availability and commitment fully before enrolling.


4. Missed Classes

Students are solely responsible for attending their scheduled classes. No refunds, fee adjustments, credit notes, makeup-class guarantees, or compensatory payments shall be provided for classes missed by the Student for any reason.

Where operationally feasible, trainers may offer recordings, notes, or doubt-clearing support for missed sessions at their discretion, but this is a goodwill gesture and not an entitlement, and does not create any right to a refund or fee adjustment.


5. Study Materials, Books & Software

All study materials provided as part of a coaching program — whether physical (printed books, handouts, practice sets) or digital (PDFs, software access, online practice portals, recorded content, login credentials) — are non-returnable and non-refundable once issued or once access has been granted.

This applies regardless of whether the Student has used, opened, downloaded, or accessed the material. Digital materials and credentials, once shared, cannot be revoked or returned and therefore carry no refund value.


6. Online Classes & Technical Issues

For online coaching programs, the Student is responsible for arranging a stable internet connection, a compatible device, and a suitable environment for attending classes. Lumia Overseas is not responsible for, and shall not provide refunds or fee adjustments arising from:

  • The Student’s own internet, hardware, software, or power issues;
  • Temporary disruptions of third-party platforms (e.g. video-conferencing tools);
  • The Student’s inability to attend due to device or connectivity limitations.

In the event of a technical disruption originating from Lumia Overseas’s side that causes a class to be cut short or cancelled, we will reschedule the affected session or provide a suitable alternative (such as a recording or makeup class). Such disruptions do not entitle the Student to a refund.


7. Batch Transfers

Requests to transfer between batches, timings, trainers, or modes (online/offline) may be considered at the sole discretion of management, subject to seat availability and operational feasibility. Approval of such requests is not guaranteed, and a batch transfer is offered only as an accommodation — it does not convert into, or create any right to, a refund. Any applicable difference in fees between batches or modes shall be payable by the Student.


8. Discounts, Offers & Promotional Pricing

Where a Student has enrolled under a discounted fee, promotional offer, scholarship, referral benefit, seasonal scheme, or bundled package, the following apply:

  • The discount or offer is linked to the specific enrollment and is non-transferable and non-encashable;
  • No part of the discount has any cash or refund value;
  • In the event any refund is ever approved under Clause 10 (Exceptional Circumstances) or Clause 11 (Cancellation by Lumia Overseas), it shall be calculated on the actual net amount paid by the Student after the discount — never on the original undiscounted (“list”) price;
  • Promotional offers are valid only for the period and conditions stated at the time of the offer and cannot be claimed retrospectively.

9. Validity & Expiry of Enrollment

Each enrollment is valid only for the duration of the course/batch in which the Student is enrolled. Once the scheduled course duration ends:

  • The enrollment, including access to classes, materials, and any digital portals, stands concluded;
  • There is no automatic extension, carry-forward, freeze, or pause of the enrollment;
  • Unattended or unused classes within the course period are forfeited and carry no refund or extension value.

Any extension beyond the original course duration, if granted, is at the sole discretion of management and may be subject to additional fees.


10. Exceptional Circumstances

Refund requests arising from genuine and exceptional situations (for example, a serious documented medical emergency preventing the Student from continuing) may be reviewed by management on a case-by-case basis. The Student may be required to submit supporting documentation.

Such review is entirely discretionary. Lumia Overseas is under no obligation to approve any such request, and where any relief is granted, it may take the form of a partial refund, a credit towards a future batch, or a batch transfer, as management deems appropriate. Any decision regarding such requests shall be final and binding.


11. Course Cancellation by Lumia Overseas

In the unlikely event that Lumia Overseas cancels a coaching program before its commencement, the affected Student will be offered, at management’s determination:

  • Enrollment in an alternative batch, timing, or mode of equivalent value; or
  • An appropriate refund of the fees paid for the cancelled program.

This provision applies only to cancellation initiated by Lumia Overseas prior to the start of classes and does not apply to discontinuation, rescheduling of individual sessions, trainer substitution, or changes that do not amount to cancellation of the program.


12. Taxes, GST & Payment Gateway Charges

  • All applicable taxes, including GST, charged on the course fee are statutory levies. In any case where a refund is approved under this Policy, the refundable amount shall be the base fee only, and any GST or other government taxes already deposited with the authorities may not be refundable, in accordance with applicable law.
  • Any payment gateway, transaction, bank, or processing charges incurred on the original payment are non-refundable and, where a refund is approved, will be deducted from the amount payable.
  • Refunds, where approved, will be processed only to the original payment source/account of the Student, and within the timeline communicated by management at the time of approval.

13. Process for Raising a Request

Any request relating to this Policy (including exceptional-circumstance refund requests or batch-transfer requests) must be made in writing to Lumia Overseas at the contact details below, clearly stating the Student’s name, enrolled course, batch, and reason for the request, along with any supporting documents. Verbal requests will not be treated as formal requests under this Policy.


14. Amendments to this Policy

Lumia Overseas reserves the right to update, modify, or amend this Refund Policy at any time without prior notice. The version in effect at the time of the Student’s enrollment shall govern that enrollment. The latest version will be made available at our centre and/or on our official website.
